About US
I am Michael Stafford
I was a little boy living in Alto Pass, IL pop. 350 in 1955. I had two great parents who had
survived WWII. Growing up in the rural Midwest was a case study in isolationism. I learned to
dribble in the sixth grade. My Daddy bought me a new basketball every month. Rain or shine, I
played with a young black boy named Paul Johnson. Paul went to Bradley; I went to
Washington University. Both of us on full scholarships. One day I graduated with an MBA from
SIU Carbondale. I had proved to myself that much is possible if you are willing to work for it.
I had go to serve during the war in Vietnam. Got drafted. One of the last kids in America to be drafted as America stumbled through a tragedy of its own making. After the war, I went to work in banking. There were good years and bad years. That degree sure helped. But from all those experiences came the stories which I am now publishing. I have lived in the midst of terrible pollution and a corporate America that would do anything for money. My books take on that way of life and seek to change it for the benefit of all of us regular folk and Mother Nature.
I am discouraged whenever I think too much about our leadership and have proven to myself that they are the least of our society of men.
